Web
Page Editor
I suggest you download a free HTML editor to learn the basics
of editing a web page. It's really pretty easy to make minor
modifications to web pages and insert links.
You'll end up spending a lot of money and it's a big hassle to
depend on others for simple web page modifications. The time
you spend learning web editing basics will make things a lot
easier later on.
The editor I suggest is "Nvu" You can read about NVU here.
The nice thing is there are a lot of free tutorials for using Nvu.
If you have a broadband connection I suggest you check out
these video tutorials at
There's
a manual on the NVU web site: See
it here.
If
you prefer a text based tutorial in
PDF form, download this:
Transferring
Files - FTP
The
procedure used to upload files to your web
host servers and download is called "File
Tranfer Protocol" or FTP. The
transfers can be done easily using an FTP
program. I recommend you start out
with a free FTP program called WS_FTP.
Managing
Your Site With cPanel
Much
of the web site management can be done through
your web host cPanel. You can get
there with this URL: http://yoursitename.com/cpanel where
'yoursitename.com' is replaced with your
actual site name.
You
will have to enter the username and password
given to you in the Welcome email sent to
you when you signed up for hosting with
InfoBizHost.
The
best way to learn is by simply logging in
to your cPanel and actually see what's available
to you. In addition to managing email,
files, subdomains, logs and security,
there are also many scripts you can install
with a click of a button. Click on the 'Fantastico'
link to see what's available.
Upon
logging in to your cPanel a pop up window
will show asking if you would like to see
the 'Quick Start Wizard'
A
cPanel manual is also available in PDF form.
Click
here to download the manual.
